ARC 2000

Its accommodation in the heart of the mountains offers you direct access to the slopes and the Aiguille Rouge massif, culminating at 3226 m. Arc 2000 is THE high mountain site par excellence.

A LITTLE HISTORY

  • The name of the resort “Les Arcs” comes from the name of the valley of the Arc: a stream which rises north-east of the Col de la Chal. It is a tributary of the Isère
  • The resort of Les Arcs was created in the 1960s by Robert Blanc (a local boy, mountain guide and ski instructor) and Roger Godino (a mountain tourism development planner)
  • Historically, the first resort was Arcs Pierre Blanche, renamed Arcs 1600 during the 1964 Snow Plan.
  • Then in 1974, it is the birth of Arcs 1800, then in 1979 of Arcs 2000 with an avant-garde architecture typical of Arcs. And finally in 2003 the Arcs 1950 with a traditional Alpine architecture.
  • That same year, the link with La Plagne and Paradiski was opened.
  • Two festivals take place every year in Les Arcs:
    • In winter, the Les Arcs European Film Festival which takes place at the beginning of December during the first week of the season, since 2009.
    • In summer you can find the Les Arcs Classical Music Festival which is traditionally held in July.

SKI AREA

  • Les Arcs 2000 is part of the PARADISKI ski area of the Tarentaise Valley in the Savoie department in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region.
  • The area includes the resorts of Les Arcs, Peisey-Valandry, Villaroger, La Plagne and Champagny en Vanoise.
  • Since 2003, the Les Arcs and Peisey-Vallandry ski areas have been linked by the “Vanoise Express” cable car to the Grande Plagne ski area in 4 minutes.
  • They form one of the largest French ski areas, PARADISKI, with more than 425 km of slopes ranging from 1200 m to 3326 m in altitude, including: 29 black runs, 66 red runs, 132 blue runs and 12 green runs.
  • LES ARCS 2000 is located at the foot of the Aiguille Rouge (3226m). Thanks to its altitude, Les Arcs 2000 guarantees a level of snow cover throughout the season.
  • It is a family and sports resort with a ski area suitable for all and which allows you to discover new experiences.
  • It even has one of the longest ski runs in Europe with a 2126m vertical drop from the top of the Aiguille Rouge (3226m) to 1100m in the heart of the mountain village of Villaroger.
  • The ARCS 2000 can be reached from Bourg Saint Maurice by a funicular railway which provides access to the Arc 1600 resort in less than 7 minutes, and then by a free shuttle service to the various resorts in the area.
  • The ARCS 2000 is linked to the Arcs 1950 by a small cable car (the Cabriolet) and to the other resorts of the Arcs by a free shuttle service.

The ski area also includes:

  • 4 slalom stages
  • 8 fun “new ride” areas including :
    • Arc 1 600 : a snow park, a waterslide (open from March) and a Big Air bag ;
    • Arc 1800 : a “Mille8 space” dedicated to the pleasures of sliding with a scripted toboggan run, a freestyle area, a scripted discovery track, a beginner’s area and 1 children’s area;
    • Arcs 2000 : two sliding boarders, a 3.5 km “Rodeo Park” high-altitude toboggan run and a zip line from the Varet gondola which flies over the old KL track from the 1992 Albertville Olympics. The zip line can reach a height of speed of 130 km/h;
    • Peisey-Vallandry : a Chrono Speed ​​to know and test your speed and 1 fun discovery museum for children of mountain animals (more than 30 species on display) and flora with free access at the top of the Vallandry cable car.

Since 2010, the area has had 10 “Natur’” trails. These are ungroomed natural trails, marked and secured by ski patrollers.

The Les Arcs ski area also offers 68 km of cross-country ski trails spread across:

  • 5 km at Arc 2000 ;
  • 5 km at Arc 1800 ;
  • 15 km at Bourg-Saint-Maurice ;
  • 43 km at Peisey-Vallandry.
